I Am Back

I can hardly believe it! I am working with RMI again.

After previously serving with RMI for 15 years (5 in FL, 10 in Haiti), I stepped away to serve as a Pastor at Beacon EFC here in Galloway.  I thought I would be there a long time, but God had different plans.  My time on staff at Beacon was wonderful!  It was truly a difficult decision to step away from my role there.

Now, I've returned to RMI.  RMI is in my blood.  I love it.  I love how the church partnerships change peoples lives, both here in the States, and overseas.  Being present with one another cross-culturally is transforming.  It's a great joy to support the mission of seeing more and more of this happening.

Let me briefly answer a few questions...

Are you moving back to FL/Haiti?

No.  For the foreseeable future, I'll be working out of my home office here in Galloway, NJ.  The technology that is available today makes this even more possible.  In the last couple of days, I've had 11 video calls with people in FL, NJ, Haiti, and the Dominican Republic.  In the near future, I'll be having face-to-face conversations with people all throughout the US.  I'll be traveling some for sure, but my home base will be here in NJ.

Can I support you financially?

Yes, I would be grateful.  My family has been a recipient of the generosity of so many over the years.  It brings tears to my eyes as I remember so many names, so many churches...  wow, I'm grateful.

Here is how this works...  people and churches, just like you, giving regulary through RMI to directly support my mission.  RMI pays me a salary, and this includes health insurance, retirement, and ministry expenses.  Visit this page, and choose "Rob Thompson".

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to call/text/email me (609-798-1310, rob.thompson@rmibridge.org).

What will you be doing?

My official title is Director of Ministry Development.

From RMI...  "He will be working with our existing C3 partners to encourage them to stay engaged even with the issues in Haiti and will be encouraging them to continue with projects and even to begin planning team trips.  He'll also be working on growing our C3 partnerships in Haiti and our new field, the Dominican Republic.  He will also be working on fundraising and possibly using his field knowledge to assist with development in both Haiti and the DR. He has his work cut out for him, but we know he is up for the task."

My next post will be a family update, but here is a recent family picture.
