Why oh why???

I am wondering why Josh Groban just sang God Bless America during the
MLB All Star Game 7th inning stretch? And why did they ask everyone
to stand? I really don't understand..

Because he sings much better than you. Practice real hard Rob, and next year maybe they will ask you to sing in st. Louis.

Well, remember, I am a decorated soloist! Anyway, more on that later.

I am not questioning why Josh Groban was singing. I am questioning why MLB chose the song "God Bless America" and wondering what the 55,000 or so in attendance were thinking while it was being sung. I think they actually sing it at every game. But why? Is it patriotic? The song is a prayer to God! Isn't that sort of disconnect? What do you think God was thinking when that song was being sung last night?

Maybe GOD HIMSELF had something to do with it, you think?

Well, I don't know about Josh Groban's faith, but he was singing that prayer as a representive of the collective body of those at the ballpark as well as our entire nation. All I am saying is that God is not listening to the prayers of unbelievers. There is total irony in a society that rejects Christ, yet calls out to God (whoever that is to them) to bless their nation. These 2 things do not go hand in hand.

Your commentary should have been your actual blog post...well said... ~Becky

Like the Israelites of old, our nation has accepted the idea that we can mix God with the gods of the nations. Clearly, very few last night were thinking of the Almighty God who is "I AM"

Now we are on the same page. I bristle at the attempt to marginalize, "deglorify" and secularize 'the' one and only God. It is either blasphemy or a total disregard for His majesty... Man that irks me.

I was at my first NASCAR race/competition yellow competition this weekend at Brickyard and they sang an America the Beautiful/God Bless America medley before the invocation, moment of silence and THE anthem. Pretty much everybody stood, most people took their hats off, some even put it over their hearts - then some, like myself, looked around confused wondering if we had missed the announcement that we had a new US national anthem. I love the patriotic greats, but only one commands my hat over my heart. I think putting your hand over your heart for any patriotic song is like bowing your head and closing your eyes for an entire Bible study.
